My Project’s Journal

I am visiting areas in southern Romania, Dobrogea County. This part of the country is where I grew up and where my grandparents raised me. And although they raised me in Constanta, the largest city in the historical region of Dobrogea, I always felt the urge to explore more of the villages found in Dobrogea. My grandparents belonged to the Greek minority; Dobrogea county is full of such minorities, including Tatars and Turks. This area is a melange of cultures and thus a very offering visual space built up not only by the geographical location itself but by all this energy and history its inhabitants bring. My journeys to these places are more spiritual, where I try to connect to them and capture their essence, which is my essence.
